Frequently asked questions
Quick answers before you send us a message.
Do I need a SIM card?
Many GPS trackers need a compatible SIM card with mobile data so the device can send location information to the supported app or platform.
Unless the product page clearly says a SIM card is included, you should assume you need to supply your own compatible SIM and pay any related carrier, data, activation, roaming, or plan charges.
Is there a Modient Drive monthly plan?
No. Modient Drive does not charge a monthly tracker plan or lock you into a Modient tracker contract.
Some products may still require a compatible SIM, mobile data, carrier service, third party app or platform access, or future renewal fees. The product page will explain what is included and what you may need to arrange separately.
Does pay once mean there are no ongoing costs?
Not always. Pay once means you buy the tracking hardware upfront and avoid a locked in Modient monthly tracker plan.
GPS trackers usually need some way to send location data to an app. That may involve a compatible SIM card, mobile data, carrier fees, roaming charges, or platform access depending on the product.
Which app does the tracker use?
Many Modient Drive trackers are designed to work with third party tracking platforms such as Tracksolid Pro by Jimi IoT, JimiIoT, Jimi Life, or another supported app listed on the product page.
The supported app can vary by product, so always check the product page before ordering.
Does Modient Drive control the app or SIM service?
No. Modient Drive supplies the GPS tracking hardware and, where included, may prepay access to the supported application provider for a stated period.
The tracking app, platform uptime, mobile network coverage, SIM data service, and carrier performance are provided by third parties. We do not control or guarantee third party app uptime, mobile coverage, SIM provider performance, or uninterrupted data connectivity.
Which tracker should I choose?
OBD plug in trackers are usually best for the easiest vehicle setup. Hardwired trackers are usually best for a more discreet long term install.
Battery trackers suit boats, trailers, caravans, and equipment. Personal trackers suit bags, keys, luggage, and portable gear.
Can I install the tracker myself?
OBD, battery, and personal trackers are usually simpler to set up. Hardwired trackers involve vehicle power wiring and may be better installed by an auto electrician if you are unsure.
Each product page explains the recommended install style.
