Buy the hardware once. Minimise the ongoing cost.

Most vehicle GPS trackers bundle the device, SIM, app access, and service into one monthly subscription.

Modient Drive keeps it simpler. You buy the tracker, choose your own compatible SIM or data option, and use the supported tracking app for that device.

No Modient monthly fee. No locked in contract.

STEP ONE

Choose the easiest tracker for your setup

Many of our trackers need no professional installation at all. Answer 3 quick questions and we’ll point you toward the simplest starting point.

1. What do you want to track?

2. How easy should the setup be?

3. Does it need to be hidden?

RECOMMENDED TRACKER

Choose one answer from each question, and we’ll suggest the tracker style most likely to suit your setup.

STEP TWO

Choose a compatible data SIM

Some trackers need a SIM with mobile data so they can send location updates to the supported app. Check the product page first, then use our SIM guide if you need help choosing a suitable option.

1

Check whether the tracker needs a SIM.

2

Choose a compatible SIM or data option.

3

Set up the SIM before placing it into the tracker.

4

Follow the tracker instructions and connect the app.

WHY DO I NEED A SIM?

The tracker uses GPS to find its location. The SIM sends that location to the app.

This is what lets you view updates from the tracker in the supported app or platform. Where a SIM is required, you choose your own compatible SIM or data option instead of being locked into a Modient monthly tracker plan.

SIM, network, app, and platform requirements can vary by tracker, country, provider, and coverage area. Always check the product page and confirm suitability before buying.

STEP THREE

Install or place the device

Installation depends on the tracker type you choose. Some trackers plug directly into the vehicle, some are wired in for a more discreet install, and others are charged and placed where you need them.

Each product page explains the recommended install style, what is included, and whether basic DIY setup or professional installation may be more suitable.

  • Plug in: OBD trackers plug into a compatible OBD port and draw power from the vehicle.
  • Hardwired: hardwired trackers connect to vehicle power for a cleaner, more discreet install.
  • Battery: battery asset trackers are charged and placed securely in or on the asset.
  • Portable: personal trackers are charged and carried with bags, keys, luggage, or gear.

STEP FOUR

Connect and start tracking

Once the tracker is powered, installed or placed, and the SIM is active, you connect it through the supported app or tracking platform listed on the product page.

The app is where you view location updates, check movement history, manage available alerts, and confirm the tracker is communicating correctly.

  • Use the listed app: each product page will show the supported app or platform, such as TrackSolid Pro, JimiIoT, Jimi Life, or another supported option.
  • Follow setup steps: add the tracker to the app using the device details provided with your product.
  • Check connection: confirm the tracker is powered, the SIM has mobile data, and location updates are appearing in the app.
  • Set alerts: enable available alerts such as movement, geofence, vibration, low battery, or power disconnect where supported by the tracker and platform.
